Graduation Requirements

Testing Information

There is currently NO testing requirement for high school graduation.

All juniors are given the opportunity to sign up to take the ACT test during the school day sometime in April. If a student is thinking about going directly to a 4 year college after high school, they should take the ACT test.  Students will sign up in Ramp Up in January/February. The cost of this ACT test is $10 and students need to pay for the test before Spring Break, or their name will be removed from the ACT list.

Students who are not taking the ACT test that day will be taking the MCA Math test. Students who take the ACT test in April will be scheduled to take the MCA Math test on an alternate date.

ACT Test Prep Resources

We encourage students who are taking the ACT test to use these test prep resources:

  • ACT.org website has great free and paid resources
  • Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) - WHS purchases a test prep package through MCIS for students to use.
  • Willmar Community Education offers a ZAP the ACT course in the spring for students to take.  That information will be in the Community Education catalog over the winter. The course is typically a few weeks before our ACT test in April.
  • App Store - students can search ACT Prep in their app store and there are a number of free downloads.  Many of these have in-app purchasing that you can choose to utilize.
  • There are a number of both free and paid resources available to students, Kaplan and Peterson's are reputable sources
  • Other websites that we have found helpful are: Prepfactory.com, uniontestprep.com
